About Me :
Hi my name is Jaimee-lee Camkin, and I am currently on a journey to reach my goal of becoming a professional ballet dancer. I am currently training at a pre-professional level working to establish a strong technique as well as the athleticism needed to be able to have a career in dance. I have been training for 14 years and throughout these years I have come to recognise that the life of a dancer is not an easy one! Ballet takes its toll mentally and physically therefore it is vital that us as dancers look after our bodies.
At the end of the day we are athletes who train vigorously to be able to perform and experience that indescribable satisfaction of being on stage.
I created an Instagram page called "just a little nibble" when I first moved to the Uk from Australia in 2016. Moving Away from home to start the next next step of my training was a big lifestyle change. Learning to look after myself and "Be an adult" definitely took some getting used too. During this transition I discovered a love for cooking. I now had the freedom to cook what ever I wanted and being inspired by the ever so popular plant based and whole food diets, I began to be really aware of what I was putting in my body. I wanted to stay away from packaged/ processed foods and enjoy a diet full of fresh wholesome foods which leave me feeling energised and healthy.
Coming home from a long day in the studios there is nothing more I look forward too than cooking my dinner. It is my kind of I guess "Zen" and when I eat the food I have made I feel nothing but satisfied as I know exactly what I have put in it and that it is going to allow my body to rejuvenate and be ready for the next day...
I created this blog to share my love of cooking and my inventions with other people particularly dancers. I hope my recipes and advice allows you to realise that food is vital for your well being and by eating clean you can trust you are treating your body with the respect it needs.
Your body is like you car, if you don't put petrol in it it's not going to work!
* Please note that all photos on this website were taken personally by me during my travels and whilst experimenting with food.
* Please also note that I collaborated with my cousin, Riannon Sernek - Graphic Designer, to design the logo for my website.
